Hungry Hollow Ministries
(From our founder and tresurer Kristy Shrader)
"Hungry Hollow Ministries was born from mission teams hearing, seeing, and experiencing the reality of being the hands and feet of Jesus and the desire of people's hearts to continue the momentum of spreading the gospel in our own communities. God kept nudging me harder and harder to start a not-for-profit organization specifically to meet this need and unite the church body to work outside the walls of their church building, sharing their testimony and making the Gospel of Jesus Christ real while finding and reaching lost souls for Jesus.
Around the same time I developed what I thought to be a canker sore on my tongue, and it wouldn't go away. When I finally had it biopsied I was informed that it was squamous cell carcinoma on my tongue, and it was painful and growing rapidly. Through a series of events and appointments I ended up with the stage four cancer removed, along with 46 lymph nodes in my neck, and a reconstructed tongue so that I could speak and eat as I do now. Through the faith-filled prayers of God's people He sustained and healed me.
Hungry Hollow Ministries was the name God kept giving me. Not only is it the name of the small country school that was close to our home, but those people were sustained by faith through hardship. I also quickly realized we are all hungry to fill the hollow space within us with something or someone. Why not make it the Lord Jesus Christ? Hungry Hollow Ministries was born through faith about a month prior to the surgery on my tongue.
We follow much of the same model as Forgotten Ministries in Enid, Oklahoma and continue to expand upon those ideas into what works in our rural area. We are immensely grateful for their team as they walk us through developing ministry here to reach people and unify the body of Christ."
